Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund

The Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) provides steady, long-term funding for small, rural and northern communities to develop and renew their infrastructure. The total fund is increasing from $100 million per year to $300 million per year by 2018-19.

Who is eligible?

Ontario municipalities

Municipalities must meet 1 of the following criteria:

  • Those with a population of less than 100,000, as determined by the Statistics Canada’s final 2011 census data, or
  • Those located in Northern Ontario (i.e., all areas north of, and including, the districts of Parry Sound and Nipissing)

Local Services Boards (LSBs)

LSBs that own water and/or wastewater systems are eligible to receive the minimum grant of $50,000 per year.
